It clearly doesn’t matter what the rest of my outfit looks like because this skirt is just too adorable.  When I spotted this darling number on modcloth I knew my life would not be complete without it.  I instantly fell in love with the unique design and the fluttery style makes it a fun piece to wear.  Originally I had absolutely no intentions on sharing this look with you but I received so many compliments that I worried I was wasting a fabulous outfit on just an ordinary work day.

Since I absolutely love this tulle skirt my heart was broken at the thought that a country concert could be the only event fitting for its beauty.  It’s definitely deserving of more than one appearance so as an attempt to mend my broken heart, I turned to my favorite place for creativity inspiration-Pinterest, of course!

Madly Romantic

Sometimes my alter ego forces me to give in to my undeniable urges to dress a little on the wild side. I can’t help it! Sometimes edgy is better. And it’s definitely more fun! I don’t see anything wrong with adding a hint of punk to polish off a look. It has virtually the same effect as a pinch of color.  It is also true that I love all things girly and twirly.  It’s not completely out of character for me to be uber girly one day and edgy the next.

What’s fantastic about today’s outfit is that my two alter style ego’s have finally collaborated. And let’s be honest, they’re pretty spectacular when they work together! What’s not to love about this look? Leather and camo, two highly controversial fabrics, mixed with a little romance. FUN! When I asked my husband if I looked completely crazy he replied “yes, but it’s a good kind of crazy.” That’s exactly the response I was looking for! What a great man I have!

Blown Away

Last week, I totally lived it up like I was 21 again.  This statement actually means that I managed to stay out past 10:00PM on a Tuesday night! Obviously, week night adventures are a rare occurrence for this girl. I can’t help it, I really value being curled up in bed with my favorite little snuggle monster (AKA my dog) by 9:00PM every night.

My “spring break” started with the highly anticipated Carrie Underwood Blown Away concert.  Even though I lost about 3 hours of highly valued beauty sleep and walked around like a zombie the following day, Carrie Underwood was completely worth it. She was amazing, probably the best concert I have ever been to.

As soon as it was announced that Carrie Underwood would be visiting Buffalo, I started planning my outfit.  As with any other fashion obsessed country music lover, the first thing that comes to mind when your favorite country music singer comes to town is your outfit… tickets to the actual performance can wait! Am I right?

I really admire Carrie Underwood’s style so I knew that I wanted something fantastic and completely “Carrie Underwood like” to wear.  After I scored this tulle skirt from JCP for $10.00 the rest of the outfit kind of fell into place because where else would a girl be able to wear a tulle skirt? It added the perfect girly touch to my otherwise country attire and it set me out from the crowd of “wanna be country girls”.

I’m not usually one to make fun of someone’s style because fashion is expression! And I truly believe that but one of my all time favorite things about a country concert is observing the city girl’s take on a country girl’s style.  It’s always cut off blue jeans and a flannel tied around the waste and you absolutely cannot forget the cowboy boots because country girls do not appreciate the finer things in life, like a fabulous pair of heels.  In my opinion, Carrie Underwood is the poster child for us country girls, showing that we too have great style...and great shoes!

It was an incredible concert to attend, when she performs you can literally hear the passion in her voice, it’s moving.  She demonstrates her small town values while on stage and I think it’s truly admirable that she hasn’t lost touch with her routes. I have a whole new respect for her and her music.  Have I made it clear that we had a great time?


Thanks to my fantastic friend, the four of us were 3^rd row from the stage.  We had amazing seats and a great view of her fabulous style. I literally wanted everything she stepped on stage with. She has some serious shoes!   A few snap shots of her outfit changes...

Easter's on it's way...

As a child, one of my favorite parts of Easter was wearing my new Easter outfit.  My mom really knew how to dress a girl for Easter.  I always had it all, the bonnet, the white shoes, matching ruffle socks, and of course an adorable dress. I still look forward to dressing up for Easter Sunday. There’s something beautiful about dressing to celebrate the resurrection of our King.  It’s definitely a day deserving of our best pieces.

My Easter Sunday plans do not warrant an “Easter outfit” so Palm Sunday I decided to dress for spring.  Since it’s still cold in Buffalo, coats are still a dreaded necessity but this adorable coral peacoat took my monochromatic assemble from “winter wonderland” to “spring fling” by adding the perfect punch of color.

This brocade peplum was probably the smartest closet investment I made last season. I suppose that I unconsciously predicted brocade to be a pattern of the spring season. The antique elegance of this top made this outfit perfect for attending a Sunday morning church service with my mom and it easily adapted to a luncheon with a few of my adorable dolls after. Gotta love a perfect piece!
